CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS |
|
|
"Cloudy With a Chance for Meatballs" is a delightful ditty that will appeal mainly to children
and enough to adults to keep them in their seats. Based on Judi and Ron Barrett's award winning book of the same name, "Cloudy With a Chance for Meatballs"
taps into the latest craze in animated feature, 3D effectively. Bill Hader voices the main character Flint Lockwood effectively. Flint is a young scientist and son of a
tech geek Tim Lockwood (James Caan) who wants to change the world. |

Flint lives in the town of Swallow Falls. He is a total geek who seems to be getting nowhere fast. He stumbles
into a design of a machine that will change water into food and suddenly he his a genius. But [of course] things go wrong when, while plugged into the cities power supply, his machine blows up into the
sky and mixes with the clouds. Then, you guessed it.. it starts raining food. Not just jelly beans, but full meals. |

Pancakes with syrup, hot dogs in buns with the works, full dressed hamburgers, meatballs and spaghetti... you name it it falls. At first it's just a novel error and he is embraced as a hero. he even draws the attention of the towns weather girl
Sam Sparks (Anna Faris) who takes a shining to Flint. |

Things get worse and the weather takes a turn for the worse as the food gets bigger and bigger causing
lots of damage. Imagine getting flattened by a hot dog! Also in the cast is a man we haven't seen for years - Mr. T. who plays Earl Devereaux the towns tough talking but
softie policeman. Try to catch Al Roker as Patrick Patrickson. "Cloudy With a Chance for Meatballs" is not going to usurp "Up" as the
best animated film this year, but it will be nominated. The 3D effects are superior to most this year. It will make parents forget the darkness
of "9" and feel good about taking the kids without including a psychiatrists visit. Good messy fun! --GEOFFREY BURTON
