FINAL DESTINATION |
|
|
It is promised this is the last Final Destination we will be plagued with. The studio used all of it's imagination in titling it "The Final Destination" so as
not to confuse us with "Final Destinations 1-3". Same title, same crap. I wish I could say there was something different about this edition other
than the 3D, but I can't. It's still a string of unfortunate incidents that leave a string of people mutilated and mangled.
"Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events" could take lessons. |

This time director David R. Ellis cast Bobby Campo as Nick O'Bannon and Shantel VanSnaten as Lori Milligan as,
the lead characters of the group to die. It starts at a race track where Nick gets a premonition of impending disaster;
a car will crash tires will fly, engines will crush, people will get shish kabobed and a massive death scene will take place. He tells his friends and after they think he's nuts, they escape barely
with their lives. they also took a few others who should have been killed along with. But as we know from the previous three of the franchise, the Grim Reaper must be
paid his quarry. so..... |

One by one the survivors die in wickedly ugly ways seconds after ol' nick warns them
of the death. Of the various slaughters, I found the security guard the most amusing for some reason.
Otherwise, ho hum. The 3D is marginally amusing. It isn't vivid enough. I grew up with the in-your-face 3D.
You remember the 3D that came right at you. THe digital 3D isn't nearly as graphic, it's more subtle. The reason is that
two cameras are not used, it's a mirroring and depth effect generated by the computer. You see in the old method two cameras were used to mime the left/right eyes.
the further apart the cameras are while shooting, the closer the 3D seems. So when a director wanted an axe to come at you and just miss your head
he simply widened the camera angles. You can't do that with digital 3D. But digital 3D is cheaper. A LOT cheaper! So we get crap like "The Final Destination". It is destined to be popular because
it is being released at a slow time. But don't mistake that for being good! Yuk --GEOFFREY BURTON
